One meeting is never just a meeting, it can have an impact much larger than the hour spent. I’m really glad to hear Taipei’s Covid-19 prevention measures for public transportation were shared on NPR in the United States Wednesday morning. This was thanks to an hour long information sharing meeting Taipei City Government held early May with Director Jeffrey Tumlin of San Francisco’s MTA. Director Tumlin is one of many transit leaders around the world working hard to keep their essential transportation services running.
Taipei City Government has been participating in many meetings with cities around the world over the past few weeks to learn from these cities’ experiences and to also share our own experiences and best practices. We always hope these lessons reach not just those in the room (or videoconference), but all those that could use them!
The part about lessons from Taipei starts at 1:57 mark here: https://www.npr.org/2020/05/19/859156652/the-public-transit-problem
